Gema Galiana, originally from the south of  Spain, she holds BA in Theatre from ESAD, Murcia. She trained in Central and East Europe, focusing in physical theatre training, with members of Odin Theatre, Song of the Goat, Obra Theatre Company, Vivien Wood (DV8),  and Milan Kozanek among others, while is trained in Martial Arts for over 8 years. From 2010 -2014, she is one of the eight founding members of The Studio Matejka at The Grotowski Institute, Poland, exploring working across borders: Borders between performance genres, between training techniques, and between individual expression and collective resonance. Gema took part at the 2016 Theatre Venice Biennale participating in workshops with Jan Klata and Baro D'evel Cirk.

She created her solo performance The Woman Decomposed as part of the Festival Body Constitution in Poland. She collaborated in the creation of EXILE directed by Vivien Wood, commissioned by Dance City in England and All The Things You Said You Never Said Before You Though You Could Ever Say, performing in London, touring in England, Switzerland, Slovakia and participating in the Festival Bharat Rang Mahotsav in New Delhi 2014.

Gema is based in LA from the spring 2015, where she found Galiana&Nikolchev The Useless Room. She has collaborated with The Wilderness, Noodle Rice and Friends, with a member of The Syndicate, Andrea Tzvetkov and with Emily Meister/Wonder House creating Resonance in Residence, as part of HOME-LA Performance Project.

Her last piece The Last One had been selected to be part of The 8th Theatre Olympics celebrated in India 2018 where it has a great impact.

She has performed at Human Resources, the Neutra VDL House in Silverlake, at The Electric Lodge in High Voltage series and Lighting series and at The Dance Festival in Odyssey Theatre. 

Currently she is working in a new project with RES RATIO NETWORK directed by Efi Birba in Athens, Greece. Premiere in June 2018 at Piraeus Theatre.
